"Perdido Key Sea Grass"

Just completed. I have been working on several large oil and pastels, but they are taking me forever! I decided to do a little landscape to have something to show for my time. I love the beach!

"Central Park Snacks"

My first painting using Arches Oil Paper. Very smooth texture. I like it OK, but I miss the weave in linen. My sister Diane took the photo on a recent trip to NYC.

"Rocks in the Stream"

A painterly pastel of a woodland stream. After spending a lot of time recently doing tight, precise drawing, it was fun to let go and just add dashes of color. No more pastel pencils for a while.

"Sunset at the Point"

I love doing sunsets, though trying to match the warm peach, blue violets and yellows of the sky can be quite a challenge. I never seem to have the exact color pastel. Maybe I need to buy some more! Can't have too many (unless you talk to my husband, that is.)

A Walk in the Woods

A scene from a little stream bed close to home. Painting trees are a real challenge for me. So much green! I love all the textures though.

Scenes from China

Framed    $495

"Guilin Canal Boats"
pastel on paper     11.5" x 15.5"
SOLD

We recently got home from a 2 week trip to China and I am now recovered from jet lag. I will be  recording scenes from our trip in oil and pastel. We toured 5 cities, Shanghai, Guilin, Zhouzhuang, Yangshou and Beijing. I have over 2000 photos to sort through. We covered a lot of territory and I didn't want to overlook anything that might be paintable. This was a trip of a lifetime. Lots more paintings to come.

"Little Beijing Shop"     7" x 9" on watercolor paper

Inspired by my fellow artists in China, I decided to try pen & ink with watercolor, which I haven't done  in a LOOONG time. Nice break from oils and pastels.
